I'm closing this issue for now as it's too wide and impossible to action in a finite amount of time. What we need are lots of small jira issues, for each macro for which to improve the editing experience, with details on what needs to be improved.

PS: The fact that a jira component cannot be set is an indicator that the jira is too wide and not specific enough.
