Description:

On an XWiki instance, I have the following error in the administration when trying to see the details of an extension:

This replaces the whole UI of the extension manager for that extension, so:

  • the status of the extension is not visible (installed / uninstalled ?)
  • no action is possible

When clicking on the error, this stacktrace gets displayed:

This sounds more like an exception displaying an exception, so my assumption here is that this is not the original problem with this extension but this error prevents the status of the extension from being displayed.

Indeed, additional investigation shows that this line https://github.com/xwiki/xwiki-platform/blob/master/xwiki-platform-core/xwiki-platform-store/xwiki-platform-store-transaction/src/main/java/org/xwiki/store/TransactionException.java#L121 is using the causes variable without checking it.

The macro calls stacktrace seems to indicate that this error occurs when trying to display the log of the last action of the extension, so there is nothing wrong with the extension itself, there is just a TransactionException that has no causes and, because of the above implementation, we fail to display this log.
