How to backup standalone instalation
I have searced the xwiki site, list history, the web, subscribed to xwiki-users, before asking this: I am running xwiki standalone, the file is wiki-1.1-milestone-1.tar.gz and it says "Standalone installation including a Jetty container and an HSQLDB database all set up. Should be used by first-time users" Please tell me where are the files (or directories) that I need to save to have a full backup. Both database and configs but not the libs. It is running in /home/alain/dev/java/xwiki. I compared the original .tar.gz with my modified xwiki, appart from logs, only these files are different: db/xwiki_db.script db/xwiki_db.properties (only the date changed) temp/imageCache/ (empty directory, belongs to root) db/xwiki_db.script looks like an sql-dump, and my modifications are included. Could it be that a database dump is created every time I modify something? Anyway the database apears *not* to be inside the xwiki directory... Hi Alain, I think you've already asked this question. It's bad form to repost the same question again in the hope someone will answer without referring to the first question. It's also bad form the keep asking the same question without allowing more than 2 days between your different posts (so far you've sent 3 emails on the same topic). I did make my reseash and I dis spend hours testind and searching. I just expected to be better received in this comunity. AND I didn't bet ANY usefull answers *at all*. Nobody seems to know were the database is, nor seems to care! Hello Alain, Sorry if Vincent was a little harsh on you, I'm sure he didn't mean it. The database IS the dump you found in /db/ (all 3 files), there are no other files involved. This is the way hsldb works, it keeps the database in memory and dumps it to the file every 20 seconds (default value). See http://hsqldb.org/doc/guide/ch01.html#N10248 for more details. Of course, this only works for small wikis, but this is what the standalone package is for, trying xwiki. Don't take it badly, he is just trying to direct you to the correct behavior which instead of cross posting or resending was to answer his email to ask for clarifications. Concerning your issue. You said it yourself. The database file is xwiki_db.script. This is the way HSQLDB handles a database.
