[xwiki-users] Diagram Application
I am testing XWiki 5.0.2 (standalone ZIP version) to take a look at some extensions which don't work with our current XWiki 4.0. One of these extensions is the Diagram Appication <http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/Diagram+Application> I have a couple of questions: 1) In the Diagram Applications, there are nice graphs (computers, network, etc). I can see those graphics when I am in the edit mode, but as soon as I "Save & View", those graphics are not displayed anymore! How can I get these graphics to show? 2) I would like to include a diagram in another page, but if I use the "Include" macro, I only get the "XML-text" (and not the actual diagram). How can I "include" a diagram into a page? Thanks in advance! -- View this message in context: http://xwiki.475771.n2.nabble.com/Diagram-Application-tp7585510.html Sent from the XWiki- Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
See http://lists.xwiki.org/pipermail/users/2013-May/025387.html . I will try to make time to fix it. On Thu, May 30, 2013 at 5:10 PM, Hamster <teunham@hotmail.com> wrote:

Hi Marius, Thanks for looking into the Diagram Application. I immediately checked it out, but I am still experiencing problems: Using XWiki 5.1M1 and version 1.0.4: -Internet Explorer 10 is giving me the dialog "Are you sure want to navigate away from this page?" when I want to "Save & View" or "Preview" *for the first time* IEDialog.png <http://xwiki.475771.n2.nabble.com/file/n7585674/IEDialog.png> -If I create a new Diagram in Chrome, I do not get that message and the new Diagram is saved as expected (I can then also edit that Diagram with IE10 and save the page without any dialog) -The graphics located in the "iOS" tab of the Diagram Application are shown when I am in the edit mode, but those nice graphics are displayed as ugly grey blocks as soon as I "Save & View" the page (see attached pictures) DiagramApplicationEditMode.png <http://xwiki.475771.n2.nabble.com/file/n7585674/DiagramApplicationEditMode.png> DiagramApplicationView.png <http://xwiki.475771.n2.nabble.com/file/n7585674/DiagramApplicationView.png> -- View this message in context: http://xwiki.475771.n2.nabble.com/Diagram-Application-tp7585510p7585674.html Sent from the XWiki- Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
-Including a Diagram into another page is only showing the XML-info (not the actual graphics). This is for both IE10 and Chrome. -- View this message in context: http://xwiki.475771.n2.nabble.com/Diagram-Application-tp7585510p7585675.html Sent from the XWiki- Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
UPDATE: -Using the "Include" macro, only XML is being displayed when trying to show a diagram on another page. -Using the "Display" macro, the diagram is shown as expected on another page. I have updated the description of the Diagram Application. -- View this message in context: http://xwiki.475771.n2.nabble.com/Diagram-Application-tp7585510p7585698.html Sent from the XWiki- Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

I have updated the description of the Diagram Application.
Thanks. I'll try to look into the IE10 and iOS diagram issues ASAP. Marius

Hi Marius, I know you guys are busy with the 5.1 release, but have you had any chance to look into the diagram issues? Thanks, -- View this message in context: http://xwiki.475771.n2.nabble.com/Diagram-Application-tp7585510p7586031.html Sent from the XWiki- Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Not yet.. I had to work on Solr UI but I'm going to release 5.1 today (hopefully) and so I should have time to look into the Diagram Application issues in the following. Thanks, Marius
Thanks,

-bump- We are now on XWiki 5.4.2 , but the Diagram Application is still suffering from the reported glitches. IE11 1) If I use the "Show" or "Save & View", IE want to "navigate back" and informs me that all modifications will be lost 2) When in edit mode, the "graphics" (like the iPhone) are not being displayed. Chrome (I can use the "Show" and "Save & View" buttons) 1) In the "preview", I can see the iPhone graphics, but as soon as I save the page, only a gray rectangle is shown. These bugs make the Diagram Application unusable (and that's a pity as I like the functionality of creating diagrams). -- View this message in context: http://xwiki.475771.n2.nabble.com/Diagram-Application-tp7585510p7589819.html Sent from the XWiki- Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
Please report this issues on http://jira.xwiki.org/browse/XADIAGRAM . As always, pull requests are more than welcomed. I contributed this extension in my free time so I cannot guarantee the issues will be fixed quickly. Thanks, Marius On Wed, Mar 26, 2014 at 2:41 PM, Hamster <teunham@hotmail.com> wrote:

Time for another BUMP. We are more than a year later, and all bugs mentioned are still present in this application. I would realy like to see this application work like it should. Now it is still useless to me, which is making me sad ;-) JIRA's: http://jira.xwiki.org/browse/XADIAGRAM-7?jql=project%20%3D%20XADIAGRAM -- View this message in context: http://xwiki.475771.n2.nabble.com/Diagram-Application-tp7585510p7592836.html Sent from the XWiki- Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

It makes me sad too that I don't see any pull request here https://github.com/xwiki-contrib/application-diagram/pulls .

BTW please don’t forget that this extension is NOT supported by the XWiki dev team (the author is not “XWiki Development Team” at http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/Diagram+Application Thanks -Vincent
JIRA's: http://jira.xwiki.org/browse/XADIAGRAM-7?jql=project%20%3D%20XADIAGRAM
Yes, I am aware that this extension is not supported by the XWiki Dev Team. Thing is, I lack the skills to fix the problems myself, so the only thing I can do is report them and hope that someone does fix the issues. But when times passes by...and the bugs aren't fixed...the app remains unuseful... So here's me again, hoping that things get fixed. Or otherwise I would like to suggest that the XWiki teams *removes* the application from the XWiki Extensions. There's no use in keeping extensions in that list when the application is broken (which it is right now). -- View this message in context: http://xwiki.475771.n2.nabble.com/Diagram-Application-tp7585510p7592874.html Sent from the XWiki- Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Actually what we would like to do is to have a rating system on extensions.xwiki.org to let people rate extensions and to have the rating in the livetable so that you can also sort by rating. This should normally lead to having non-working or suboptimal extensions go down. It also allows any user to see the rating for an extension they choose. It would be like any known app store: app store, google play, etc. Now regarding the Diagram app, you’re being unfair. I’ve taken the time to install it and it worked well: I could create a diagram and save it. So it’s not because one use case doesn’t work (AFIU it’s an IE issue only: http://jira.xwiki.org/browse/XADIAGRAM-7 ) that the whole app should be thrown away, discarding all the work done by whoever published it. That’s not very respectful of the extension’s creators... What can and should be done is mention on the page of that extension what doesn’t work so that users can know about it. I’ve now added such a section listing all open issues: http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/Diagram+Application#HKn... Thanks -Vincent

Those are great ideas! As for the Diagram Application itself...I will wait and hope that someone has the time to fix those issues... -- View this message in context: http://xwiki.475771.n2.nabble.com/Diagram-Application-tp7585510p7592884.html Sent from the XWiki- Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
