You may have to install some plugin for OpenOffice to support opening PDF files, at least that's what this comment http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/Office+Importer+Applica... suggest. Unfortunately Open/LibreOffice are known for not being very reliable when it comes to PDF import (PDF to HTML conversion). And the page was not displaying any contens. Also I tired creating the wiki page from pdf through import opnoffice way and faced "server error 500" and import was faied.
